CYPRUS
Cyprus is the third largest island in the Mediterranean, it is blessed with a natural beauty that ranges from golden beaches and rugged coastlines to rolling hills and forest clad mountains, dotted with picturesque villages. The island is extremely popular with investors, holiday makers and retiree's with its relaxed lifestyle, excellent infrastructure and high quality of life.
THE MAIN AREA LOCATIONS THAT WE SELL PROPERTY IN ARE AS FOLLOWS;
POLIS/LATCHI - The Word "POLIS" IN GREEK MEANS "TOWN"
Polis is located just 30 minutes drive to the north west of Paphos and is around 45 minutes from Paphos airport. The town is in an elevated position with stunning views, but only 1 km from the safe sandy beaches. This traditional Cypriot town has a central area that offers a host of shops, restaurants and bars and is the perfect setting to enjoy a coffee or sample the local cuisine.
Polis is served by the picturesque fishing port of Latchi, an all year round attraction, noted for its fish tavernas and water sports facilities. However the great advantage of Polis is its close proximity to the beautiful Akamas peninsula, a nature reserve area destined to become a National Park. This area has remained untouched and now offers a great place to get away from it all with its many nature trails and picnic areas.
To the east of Polis on the other side of the Chrisochou Bay lie the foothills of the Troodos, that fall dramatically into the sea. These hills are blanketed by trees of Pafos forest and provide a different landscape from anywhere else on the island.
If you are looking for a peaceful location and relaxed atmosphere, this region has a great deal to offer.
PAFOS/PAPHOS
The city of Paphos on the south west coast of Cyprus was the capital of the island in Roman times and dates from 1400 BC. Renowned for its archaeological treasures the town is a UNNESCO World Heritage Site.
Sheltered from the north by the Troodos Mountains, Paphos enjoys the healthiest year round climate, which has contributed to popularity as a key centre for tourism. Over recent times substantial government investment in the local infrastructure and private initiatives has reinforced its position as the premier resort in Cyprus.
The Ktima section of the city is the main residential area, while Kato Paphos is the playground for holidaymakers, built around the medieval port with its numerous luxury hotels, tavernas and entertainment venues.
Fifteen minutes to the east of Paphos, the new International airport is situated. Scheduled and charter flights to most of the larger UK and European cities are available all year round.
Also in this region are a number of villages that are increasing in popularity as the ideal retirement locations. Mandria, Anarita and Kouklia are thriving villages with good local facilities. They are all a short distance to the coast, offer flat terrain and have good communications to Paphos. There are also two excellent 18 hole golf courses close at hand!
The Paphos region has so much to offer that whether you are looking for full time living or a holiday home you will find it here.
The hillside villages just to the north of the city are much favoured as ideal locations for permanent living – they offer traditional relaxed lifestyle, whilst providing easy access to all the facilities and amenities of this busy city.
PEYIA (Pegia)
With its hillside location Peyia offers truly amazing panoramic sea views and overlooks Paphos and the golden sandy beaches of Coral Bay. Just 12 km drive from the centre of Paphos and very close to the new marina project, it is easy to understand why Peyia has become such a firm favourite with the ex-pat community.
It offers all the benefits of traditional village living with a thriving local community, whilst being just a short drive from some of the best beaches on the West coast. There are plans to pedestrianize the centre to enable residents and visitors alike to fully appreciate the architecture of the historic church and stunning sea and mountain views.
The small windy streets off the main square hide a host of local shops and restaurants. There is no shortage of local amenities with well stocked local supermarkets, banks, butchers, fishmongers and even a 24/7 DVD hire shop!
For those looking for permanent living Peyia has a lot to recommend it – however, due to the hillside location this area is not ideal for those with mobility issues.
PISSOURI
Located mid way between Paphos and Limassol the charming village of Pissouri, with its elevated position, provides stunning coastal views over the sandy beaches of Pissouri Bay. This is the perfect location to truly enjoy the relaxed Cypriot lifestyle, whilst having easy access to two of the most vibrant cities on the island.
The centre offers all the day to day amenities one could wish for and a selection of tavernas and restaurants which are the envy of many larger towns. Pissouri also plays host to a number of events throughout the summer - in fact this thriving local community make sure that there is something going on most of the time!
It is one of the most sought after locations in this region and property prices reflect this.
LIMASOL (LEMESOS)
Limassol is the second largest city in Cyprus. The city is located on Akrotiri Bay, on the islands south coast. Limassol is the biggest port in the Mediterranean transit trade and has become an important centre for tourism, trade and service industries in the region.
Over recent years the city has experienced massive development the latest of which is a world class marina that is currently under construction – it will provide berths for over 1,000 yachts and be able to accommodate some of the larger ocean going vessels. The new Limassol Marina project will also incorporate luxury apartments and villas in the most prestigious area of town.
The city has a long history of hospitality and not surprisingly has an enviable reputation for its luxurious hotels, fine restaurants and excellent nightlife. This lively ambiance is also aided and abetted by the fact that Limassol is the centre of winemaking on the island.
Throughout the year the city also hosts a number of festivals, like the Wine Festival, which takes place in September and provides visitors with the opportunity of sampling free some of the best Cyprus wines.
Limassol and the surrounding villages offer beautiful locations for those choosing relocation or just holiday homes. Two new golf courses are planned for the area and both Paphos and Larnaka international airports are accessible within 45 minutes.
LARNACA / LARNAKA
Larnaka is the main town on the south east coast and is home to the largest airport in Cyprus with a new state of the art terminal building .
The town is a thriving metropolis, but retains the feel of a compact and friendly place. The beachfront features a long promenade, which plays host to many bars and restaurants. The long sandy beach is bordered by a large marina, which is a home to boats from all over the Mediterranean.
Larnaka port is the main industrial port for the island and provides access for most of the imports used on the island. On the outskirts of the town are the famous salt lakes, which are the backdrop to the impressive Sultan Halle Tekke mosque. These lakes are also the home to the pink flamingos that migrate here every year.
The small towns and villages located between Larnaka and Dekelia, have in recent years become a prime location and sought after area for residential property. Less than 20 minutes from the town centre with all its amenities and with easy access to the international airport the popularity of these locations is destined to continue.
The new 18 hole golf resort, currently under construction, to the east of the city offers some exclusive developments of both apartments and villas. These have attracted the interest of both golfers and investors from all over Europe and are sure to add a further dimension to this already popular region.
The flat terrain and good local transport system make the area exceptionally user friendly. Larnaka is a great place for nature lovers, golfers, shoppers and sun worshipers!
The 1000 year old capital lies roughly in the centre of the island, within easy reach of the other towns. To walk through the old city is to step backwards in time. Narrow streets and old houses with ornate balconies jut from weather beaten sandstone walls, and craftsmen in small workshops practice trades unchanged for centuries.
